Motor Insurance Database

22 January 2019

It is vitally important that you remove a car from the Motor Insurance Database when it has been disposed of or if it is in the hands of another motor trader. We have had several substantial claims on cars which have been involved in accidents after the trader has sold the car but not taken it off the MID.

The cars were uninsured by their drivers and because the cars were still showing as being insured by Ageas on the database they have had to pay and the result can be a substantial Third Party claim going onto the traders record and affecting his future premium.

Similarly, if you are likely to have a car in your custody for 7 days or more you should put it on your MID to show that it is insured.

At Classic Insurance Services, we always like to keep up with the latest news so we can provide the best insight and knowledge to our clients.
