Cars outside of the UK

23 January 2019

The Road Risks section of the insurance policy is extended to give Foreign Use cover in Continental Europe which means that the cars must be registered on the Motor Insurance Database.

Technically this means that cars that are not registered on the MID, like race cars, are not covered in Europe. We have pointed out this “loophole” in the cover with our insurers and they have confirmed that they will cover these non-registered cars but you will need to tell us about them, with their value and location.

We will be asking all clients at renewal but where a Client Manager is aware that you have an unregistered car in Europe they will ask you for the details now in advance of renewal.

At Classic Insurance Services, we always like to keep up with the latest news so we can provide the best insight and knowledge to our clients.
