Clients are asking us about the effect of a “no deal” situation and there is no certainty around this so we can only give our best guess. Currently all UK drivers with insurance are automatically covered to drive in all the countries within the European Economic Area as well as Andorra, Serbia and Switzerland.

The old system for foreign travel meant the issue of a Green Card but these countries were made Green Card free areas and drivers were not required to provide proof of cover. In the event of a “no deal” insurers will continue to provide cover but drivers are likely to need a Green Card as evidence of insurance and could expect to have that documentation checked at the border.

At Classic Insurance Services, we always like to keep up with the latest news so we can provide the best insight and knowledge to our clients.
